Philosophy Statement:

Te Pūtake refers to the foundation, origin, or source.

A well-structured and intentionally designed early childhood experience is the foundation for the rest of a child’s life. A generation of well-equipped, critical thinking, socially connected children is the foundation for our society’s future.

Every learner brings their Whakapapa – their history, their ancestors, their family, their culture and their language to the environment. We celebrate these as central to the child’s identity and sense of belonging.

Manaakitanga is our way of being, showing, and doing. This is grounded in an ethic of care and permeates every interaction, affirming the mana of each ākonga.

From the foundation of mana emerges Rangatiratanga – self efficacy, agency, and determination. Learners are supported to make decisions, take responsibility, and develop confidence in who they are.

As ākonga develop self-awareness, critical thinking, and the ability to express themselves, they begin to understand their place within the wider world. This is Kaitiakitanga — recognising and enacting their responsibilities to others, to the environment, and to the future.

Weaving us together is Whanaungatanga - the fabric of life and the foundation of healthy identity. Relationships are proactively and deliberately nurtured through intentional and attentional moments.

These values are upheld through our standards: pono, aroha, growth, and contribution. Together, they guide our decisions, shape our practice, and ensure that what we do is aligned with what we stand for.

Finally, we recognise that we are all learners. We strive to grow, adapt and flourish together.
